To obtain high precision data and ensure the safety of structures and equipment during the execution of a work, engineering professionals use some special tools.

The seismograph is one such example. The instrument has the function of measuring the effects of vibrations and the amplitude of seismic waves in activities such as excavations, detonation with explosives and demolitions.

The Instrumentation technician is responsible for installing and programming the equipment to record the vibrations, ensuring that they are within the established limits and preventing any damage to the buildings.

In LPC Latina, the seismograph was used during the works of the tunnels of Line 5 of the São Paulo Metro, to detect if the foundations would be affected by the excavation equipment. In addition, the tool was applied to Line 4 South of the Rio de Janeiro subway station, in Jardim de Alah, Antero de Quental stations, among others, to monitor the vibrations generated by excavation detonations and to ensure the stability of the structures.
